Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Bonsaigo LLC ("we", "us") handles information in our iPhone app Scalar and on our website, bonsaigo.com. The short version: Scalar does not collect any personal information, and the website does not use cookies or analytics.

Scalar

• Microphone. Scalar asks for microphone access so it can measure and display sound. Audio is analyzed in real time on your iPhone and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can turn microphone access off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
• Recordings. Audio is saved only when you start a recording. Recordings stay on your device, in Scalar's storage, and are visible to you in the Files app. They may be included in your own device backups, which we cannot access. You can delete them in the app at any time, and deleting the app removes them.
• Sharing. When you share a recording or export a session as CSV, iOS sends it only to the destination you choose.
• Settings. Your preferences (such as theme, weighting and calibration) are stored on your device.
• No collection or tracking. Scalar has no accounts, ads, analytics or third-party SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not connect to our servers.

This website

• We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising on bonsaigo.com.
• If you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your browser.
• The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services. Like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages.
• The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from jsDelivr. Those services receive your IP address when your browser fetches these files, under their own privacy policies.

If you email us

If you contact us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to help you. We don't sell or share it. We keep messages only as long as we need them to help you, and you can ask us to delete them, or any other information we hold about you, by emailing hello@bonsaigo.com.

Children

Scalar and this website do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
